COLLAGE & ALTAR BUILDING RETREAT
Sunday, October 11, 2026
9:00am–4:30pm
Lyons, Colorado
$260

This autumn, I’m teaming up with Sarahkate Greeley (ceramic artist) and Erin Peters (sound healing practitioner) for a day-long creative retreat in Lyons- a day to step away from the usual rhythms of life, time to listen inward, and give form to what is asking for attention.

Autumn invites us into a time of gathering and harvest—a natural moment to pause and look back at the seasons we’ve moved through.

What seeds have you sewn in the seasons behind you?
What intentions have you carried, tended, or patiently waited for? What are you harvesting now- not only in the form of accomplishments, but in what you’ve learned, what has grown within you, and who you have become along the way? And perhaps just as importantly: what would it be like to offer yourself gratitude for the tending itself? For the effort you’ve made, the challenges you’ve moved through, the ways you’ve kept showing up, and all that it has taken to arrive here.

Throughout this day, we’ll create space to reflect on these questions through contemplative collage, a restorative sound bath experience, and creating a personal altar from clay.

Using collage, we’ll use imagery, intuition, reflection, and the creative process to discover what wants to be seen, honored, released, or brought more fully into your life.

We’ll have a sound bath experience after returning from our lunch break, to integrate the morning’s collage process and drop back in for clay altar building in the afternoon.

The altar you create from clay will become a tangible place to hold what emerges—a physical expression of your reflections, intentions, gratitude, or whatever feels meaningful to carry forward into the next season.

This will be a day for gathering what has grown, honoring the ground you’ve traveled, and making space for what is yet to come. There is no need to arrive with a finished idea. Instead, we’ll allow the process itself to reveal something.

No previous experience with collage or clay is necessary. All materials will be provided, and there will be plenty of space to work quietly and at your own pace.

Please reach out with your interest and any questions, by sending a message through the form at the bottom of this page, or more directly by phone or text at 408-386-8317.

VISUAL VOICE AS A TOOL OF TRANSFORMATION
exploring personal messengers and parts of ourselves
through collage

The next workshop is scheduled for:
~ TBD, probably early November

$95 all materials included

The theme for the past few workshops have held elements on the theme of Coming to Meet, be it meeting something from the past, or tending to something asking to be met in your current life circumstances. These upcoming workshops will continue to explore this theme in fresh ways. The invitation will simply be to turn towards what surfaces, to listen for and nourish what is emerging, to become trustworthy to ourselves across time and participate actively in who we are becoming. If you're interested, I invite you to read more about this theme in my March newsletter, which is posted in my newsletter archives.

This workshop invites you into a creative process that uses visual expression as a way to listen to what’s moving beneath the surface. Through collage, we’ll create space for the mind to soften and the unconscious to come into play, allowing inner experiences, emotions, and perspectives, to take form outside of the inner landscape. By giving shape and voice to what lives within, we open the possibility for a more conscious and compassionate relationship with ourselves.

With the intention of exploring your unique visual voice as a tool for transformation, this workshop supports the emergence of parts of yourself that may be asking for attention, integration, or strengthening. This might look like deepening a relationship with a vulnerability, acknowledging something long held back, engaging with a fear, or giving form to a powerful emotional state. Through collage and the juxtaposition of images, these aspects are invited to be witnessed and supported, becoming visual allies you can return to as you continue to deepen your relationship with yourself and others.

As we work, you may begin to notice recurring themes, characters, or symbolic qualities showing up in your images. These often resemble what are commonly referred to as archetypes- universal patterns or messengers that appear across cultures and stories. In this context, archetypes are not something you need to define or analyze, but rather something that may naturally emerge through the creative process, reflecting the shared human experiences and your own
personal story.

Through collage, writing practices, and guided visualization, we’ll explore these visual messengers and the themes they highlight in your life. No prior art experience or familiarity with archetypes is needed. All that’s required is curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to create and be seen. All materials will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own collage images if you’d like.

What you create may echo a universal message, but it will be uniquely yours—rooted in your lived experience, your inner world, and your own way of seeing.

  • These groups are open to adults and teens of all genders and ethnic backgrounds. Each session will be caped at 7 people.
  • We gather in my home art studio in Lyons, Colorado. Address and directions will be provided after registration.
  • $95 per meeting. Advanced payment is appreciated to ensure your spot. Payments can be made via Venmo, Paypal, credit card, check, or cash. There is an additional $5 fee for any credit card payments. Once you have let me know you'd like to come we can arrange payment.

~ The next class date is in the works. If you would like to request a class, I often schedule them based on interest, so please let me know what date and 4 hour chunk of time would work best for you and/or you and your friends.

Class will be held in my home studio in Lyons, CO. Directions provided after registration.

Imagine picking up a book- a journal, a scrapbook, a book of recipes- and feeling so comforted by it, so met by its essence that you recognize your own. In this workshop you will learn how to make not just a book, but a portal that invites and inspires you to meet yourself within its pages.

You will construct your book from beginning to end, using classic bookbinding techniques (long stitch method). Materials provided include specialty and handmade papers, leather for the cover, binding thread, the internal pages for your book, gemstone and other beads, buttons and conchos, and more. We will explore ways in which your book can act as a host for your creative process of truth telling through words, images, and special additions that echo who you are.

Extra personalizing  materials to bring from home may include: special coins, stamps, artwork, handwritten letters, envelopes, passports, maps, special papers, hair, stickers, photos, stencils, antique keys, special ribbon or yarn, beads, stones and crystals, favorite quotes, and anything else that strikes your fancy.
